Find Info

The Find Info window is used to set the attributes of a Find script item. This window is opened when a new Find item is created from Script:New Item:Find. It is also opened when a Find script item is selected and Script:Edit Item... is chosen.
The Find Info window contains the following items:
- Locate
- This popup menu presents a list of find options.
- "File by Name" allows you to find a file whose name exactly matches the specified name.
- "Folder by Name" allows you to find a folder that exactly matches the specified name.
- "File by Type & Creator" allows you to find a file whose type and creator code match the specified criteria. You can use the Same As... button to retrieve the type and creator codes from a file on your hard disk.
- Name
- This entry field specifies the name to match when looking for a file or folder.
- Type
- This entry field specifies the file type to use when looking for a file. You can enter a value into this field or use the Same As... button to automatically retrieve the file type from a file on your drive.
- Creator
- This entry field specifies the file creator to use when looking for a file. You can enter a value into this field or use the Same As... button to automatically retrieve the file creator from a file on your hard disk.
- Same As...
- This button allows you to retrieve the file type and file creator codes from a file on your hard disk. The type and creator codes are needed when the "Find by Type & Creator" option is set.
- Limit search to current install folder
- This settings allows you to look for matches only within the current install folder. If this option is not set, the entire drive is searched for a match.
One possible use of Limit search option is to locate a folder like the Netscape Plug-ins folder. You could use two consecutive Find items to do this. The first would use type and creator to locate the Netscape application. The second would look for a folder named "Plug-ins", but only within the current install folder. Limiting the search eliminates the possibility of finding the wrong "Plug-ins" folder on the user's hard disk.
- Attributes
- This tab area allows you to set various attributes for the current item. These attributes include the following:
For further details on these attribute categories, see the Attributes section of this guide.
- Change
- This button closes the window, saving any changes. When an item is first created, this button is named Create.
- Cancel
- This button closes the window, canceling any changes.
- Delete
- This button deletes the current item from the script. When an item is first created, this button is not available.
